Sara Pascal, Psy.D.
Director of Clinical Training
Coming to therapy can be a challenging experience, no matter your particular struggle.
It’s vital that the therapist you choose be someone that you trust and feel a connection.
I think of therapy as a collaborative process: I’m the guide who takes you on the journey of recognizing, understanding, and overcoming challenges that impact your life. I’m trained in both a psychodynamic approach, where we focus on how you interact with the world, and I provide skills training as one of our Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) therapists here at IntrinPsych Woman.
My work is inspired by a decade of clinical experiences, including working with Middle Eastern and African refugees in Egypt, veterans here in New York, persons adjusting to life transitions, and women struggling with chronic self-harm, suicidality and difficulty with impulse control.
My experiences and training allow me to address problematic relationship patterns – past and present – as well as provide you with skills to manage the immediate challenges you face. In treatment, I use this integrative approach to create a safe environment where, together, we can wade through uncertain waters at a pace that is right for you.
While I treat a wide range of issues, I specialize in working with adults suffering with anxiety, depression, role transitions, and reclaiming their lives after traumatic experiences – traumas both recent, and long ago. Fundamentally, I believe that once real insight is gained, we can change how we react to stressors and the world as a whole.
When not in my therapist role, I love to travel, try new foods, throw pottery on the wheel, and spend time with those I treasure.
